Inspiration
As first year, we are currently experiencing first hand all the struggles of finding a house for the coming year. Shifting through multiple website, all with different functionality, is tedious work. This inspired us to create QHousing to make the entire process easier.
What it does
QHousing aims give users the functionality they want from housing websites, but with the ability to send a search to multiple websites at once, saving hours of time.
How we built it
This web app was built using Django Framework. Using the model-view-template architecture, we were able to develop individual components quickly and create a finished product.
Challenges we ran into
The Django Framework was a great tool to build our app, however, none of us have used it before. Significant challenges faced us at every turn.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are most proud of a seeing the project go from idea to creation.
What we learned
Almost everything about our project was learned during QHacks. Everything from the backend implementation, to the templates for front-end was learned/
What's next for QHousing
To continue on our mission of centralized housing data, additional websites and features are the clear next step. By adding more websites to our searches we can give user the results they need. Addition features, like search options, can improve the users experience
