Inspiration
The inspiration for this app lies in its core theme - bringing together users to support one another. With this, we wanted to incorporate a sense of community building.
What it does
With a big emphasis on community, our app integrates both a social feature, as well as a built-in habit tracker that integrates both short and long-term rewards in the form of apples (which can later then be transferred into apple pies). Gamifying the experience of health and wellness activities, we aim to encourage the retention of users through meaningful exercises that are both fun and rewarding.
How we built it
We start by brainstorming our ideas us, designing and architecting the app from pen and paper to a Figma framework. Then started building the app by dividing our job into design, backend, frontend, and database implementation. From this, the designer first utilized Figma to build out the barebones shape, our developers were then able to bring it to life via code. Nodejs was utilized for the backend backend and HTML+CSS3+Javascript frontend. Using freeDB database as data storage. Later, the lo-fi wireframe was then fleshed out into a hi-fi wireframe that allowed the developers to further refine their work.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges we ran into were: -Refining the visuals in CSS
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Collaboration -Exercising time management -Combining form and functionality
What we learned
-Form and functionality can co-exist within a stressful environment -Time management is important
What's next for QDS 2024 - Apple Pie
-Build a desktop version of our app -Incorporate a 'badges' system that further gamifies the process
