Problem: Food and Financial pressures are at an all time high for students at BCIT.
Solution: Bulk buying fresh foods from the farm for BCIT students to allow cheaper and healthier foods.
Description: Organica is a website that enables students to request products directly from local suppliers. Because suppliers only sell products in bulk quantities, students can request a specific item until the product’s demand meets the supplier’s threshold. Once there are enough requests, Organica notifies the supplier and prompts them to schedule a delivery. Up to this point, users are free to cancel their requests if their plans change. After the supplier confirms the delivery date, all students who requested the item will receive a notification and automatically pay for their own order based on their account’s payment information. The delivery will then arrive at BCIT’s Burnaby campus where students can pick up their order. Finally, the students can head home, happy that their groceries are cheaper, healthier, and fresher than ever before.
