Inspiration

Our inspiration for QCare came from personal experiences and stories of frustration in emergency rooms. We noticed that lack of communication exacerbates the anxiety and stress patients face while waiting for care. We wanted to create a solution that empowers patients with real-time information and support, helping them feel valued and informed during difficult moments.

What it does

QCare keeps patients in the loop by providing:

  • Live Updates: Real-time updates on queue times and hospital conditions to help patients understand their wait times.
  • Chatbot Support: An AI-powered chatbot that offers advice, answers common health-related questions, and provides reassurance to anxious patients.
  • User-Friendly Interface: An intuitive design that ensures ease of use for patients of all ages and technological backgrounds.

How we built it

  • Backend: Used Firebase and JavaScript
  • FrontEnd: Used React
  • UI: We used Figma as a template for the UI

Challenges we ran into

  • Data Accuracy: Ensuring the live updates from hospitals were reliable and consistent posed a major challenge. We had to carefully test API responses and handle edge cases.
  • Chatbot Complexity: Designing a chatbot that could effectively understand and address user concerns required extensive training and iteration.
  • Time Constraints: As this was a hackathon project, balancing feature development with time limitations pushed us to prioritize functionality over polish.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully creating a functional app prototype within a limited timeframe.
  • Integrating real-time queue updates that dynamically reflect hospital conditions.
  • Designing a chatbot that genuinely provides comfort and valuable advice to users.
