🚀 Inspiration Legal texts are often dense, filled with jargon, and nearly impossible to understand — especially when written in formal Arabic or legal French. For everyday people — farmers, students, youth, or elders — trying to understand their rights or obligations becomes intimidating. We created QanounAI to break down legal complexity and bring the law closer to the people — in their own language and dialect.
💡 What it does QanounAI is an AI-powered legal assistant that: 🧠 Instantly summarizes legal texts, laws, or administrative documents into clear, structured bullet points. 🌍 Keeps the summary in the same language or dialect — Arabic, Tunisian dialect, French, or English. ⚖️ Understands legal context (e.g. marriage law, inheritance, contracts) and preserves legal accuracy. 📚 Makes complex content understandable to students, farmers, parents, officials, and even young learners. 🔍 Use Case Example: A Tunisian student copies 2,000 words from a Family Law article. QanounAI returns simple, clear bullet points in Tunisian Arabic, retaining the legal meaning for easy learning.
🛠️ How we built it Frontend: HTML, CSS, JS — clean, accessible UI for pasting or typing long texts. Backend: Java Spring Boot — handles AI requests, cleans responses. AI Integration: Google Gemini API — with dialect-aware prompts tailored to legal content.
🧗♂️ Challenges we overcame Adapting AI summaries to Arabic dialects while preserving legal meaning. Ensuring legal structure is retained in the output (sections, clauses, etc.). Making it intuitive enough for non-tech users like farmers or school kids.
