Inspiration
Qadam AI was born from a real-world crisis in education. During a recent bootcamp, I conducted one-on-one interviews with 9th–11th–grade students and discovered a staggering reality: over 80% of them feel completely lost despite having access to the internet. They don't need more information; they need a filter for the noise. Moreover I faced this problem myself when I was preparing to universities and searching for personalized and understandable courses in admission to the colleges but every course were veryexpensive, such as Crimson.
The personal turning point was seeing a close friend get defrauded by a predatory "education agency." They promised her a future abroad, took her savings, and disappeared, leaving her with no university place and no resources. I realized that the lack of transparent guidance makes students vulnerable to scams. I created Qadam AI (meaning "Step" in Kazakh) to provide a safe, honest, and AI-driven "GPS" for admissions that replaces expensive, untrustworthy middlemen with a clear, logical path.
What it does
Qadam AI is a specialized ecosystem designed to turn admission anxiety into a structured plan:
AI Reasoning Chat: A mentor that focuses on "Chain-of-Thought" explanations to help students understand the why behind university requirements.
Verified University Database: A transparent list of institutions and programs to eliminate the need for third-party agents.
Personalized Admission Roadmap: A step-by-step 3-year plan for 9–11th graders, showing exactly which goals to hit and when.
Minimalist Interface: A clean, distraction-free environment (using our signature modern yellow branding) to reduce cognitive load.
How we built it
We utilized a cutting-edge AI-native development workflow to move from concept to product at high speed:
Full-Stack Development: Built using Lovable, which allowed for rapid iteration and a seamless bridge between the frontend and the underlying logic.
Frontend: Developed with React and Tailwind CSS for a fast, responsive, and modern user experience.
AI Implementation: Integrated OpenAI’s models with custom system prompts to ensure the AI acts as a professional consultant rather than a generic chatbot.
Backend & Data: Powered by Supabase (PostgreSQL) to manage student profiles and university data securely.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was "teaching" the AI to think like a human consultant. We had to fine-tune the prompts to ensure the roadmap wasn't just a list of tasks, but a logical progression that accounts for the specific nuances of the Kazakhstan education system and international deadlines. Managing the high-speed code generation in Lovable while maintaining strict architectural control was also a significant learning curve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully transformed raw interview insights into a functional platform in record time. We are proud of the Reasoning Engine we developed—it doesn't just give answers; it provides a "Qadam" (step) that gives students the confidence to manage their own future without fear of being misled.
What we learned
Through this journey, I learned that the most powerful tool in education is structure. Students are overwhelmed by choice, and by providing a minimalist, AI-guided path, we can solve the "decision paralysis" that leads them to make mistakes or fall for scams. We also learned how powerful AI-assisted development (like Lovable) is for solving social problems quickly.
What's next for Qadam AI
Grant & Scholarship Tracker: To further protect students from financial fraud by showing verified funding sources.
Document Optimizer: AI assistance for motivation letters and CVs tailored to specific university requirements.
Community Mentorship: Connecting 11th graders with students who have already successfully used Qadam AI to get into their dream universities.
