✋ A Text-to-ASL translator written in Angular and Typescript that uses https://www.handspeak.com : INCLUSIVITY
The Concept
This is a proof of concept to provide a base application for something much more powerful. We envision things like Speech to ASL translations as a YouTube video plays, a TV broadcasts the news, or a desktop widget translating the text on your screen. The possibilities are endless!
Inclusivity
We developed this application for those that require sign language heavily in their life. While this application focuses more on teaching those that don't have a hearing disadvantage the motions of sign language, the application could also be flipped the other way if the translator was able to translate YouTube videos, television, or anything that you put the microphone up to! Once the speech is converted to text, it's as simple as using the functionality that already exists!
To the Judges
Thank you for taking the time to review our submission, we hope you see this application with the envision of something more and we are very grateful to be a part of PygHack 2020!
A Special Thanks
We would like to specifically thank https://www.handspeak.com for all of the signing videos in this presentation. With the proper funding we would reproduce these videos but we hope these examples give you a basis of our vision.
The Team
We hope that the whole team is able to accept the project invitation, but given that we are all working remotely on this Saturday morning, I'd like to take a moment to recognize them individually in case they miss my link to the project.
