Inspiration
Along the theme of education, we were inspired by our role as Teacher Assistants for Computer Science I where we all have a passion for helping students learn the fundamentals of coding and Python. However, we targeted younger populations in the hope that an earlier education would allow them a greater interest and prospects in the technology world.
What it does
A website that teaches the fundamentals of Python using loops, printing and variable types, and lists. We wanted to make the content engaging to our younger audience so we utilized a variety of styles and delivery methods.
How we built it
We utilized HTML and CSS as the frameworks for our website. Our project was collaborated on in GitHub and coded in Visual Studio Code.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with deciding what information is the most important for our younger audience and what examples would make the ideas the most comprehensible
Accomplishments that we're proud of
None of our team members have ever utilized HTML and CSS before so the process of learning and applying it to a real project was incredibly satisfying and something to be proud of.
What we learned
We learned how to utilize the features of GitHub and VS Code to build a project where we can all contribute our unique thought processes, style, etc.
What's next for PyCode
PyCode will hopefully be developed with greater functionality and utility as we learn more about what the language and framework are capable of. More user-friendly visuals and graphics will also be integrated.
