Inspiration
People always want to do these New Years Resolutions, but have trouble coming up with ideas on how to go about it. So our application will generate ideas to help you get started working on your New Years resolutions.
What it does
The user logs in and has many categories to choose from. Once one is selected, a list of challenges are generated related to the category. Then the user can spin a wheel where one is chosen at random for them to complete. They can also view all of the challenges they have selected.
How we built it
Used React for the front end UI, Golang for the backend to make the API calls. Database is MySQL for storing user data. Docker for containerization.
Challenges we ran into
Networking issue when connecting the backend to the database. Also, had to redesign database multiple times to fit the applications needs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully connecting the front end component to the backend component. Creating a full stack application. Leveraging OpenAI's API to generate challenges.
What we learned
Learned React and how a full stack application comes together. Also worked with OpenAI's API first time.
What's next for PursuitPioneer
We want to add leaderboards to the application where when users complete challenges, they can gain points and track it against other users. Sending email reminders to users about the challenges they picked. Deploy the web app and get users to use it.
