Purrrfect Jokes

Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project was to create a simple way to lift your spirits and bring some joy into your life, especially during these recent cold and gloomy days. We believe that a touch of humor can brighten even the darkest moments, and what better way to do that than with a playful cat interface and delightful jokes?

What it does

Our app allows you to generate a random joke or a joke of your choice from the categories provided. It also has sharing features to share with your friends and family.

How we built it

We used streamlit functions and API functions to build our project.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a lot of challenges. At first we tried to use React to create our project but did not have enough background to figure it out well enough to develop our ideas. We ran into dependnecy issues and mismatched nodules. We decided to switch to Streamlit in order for us to create what we wanted. On streamlit we did run into issues with implementng our share buttons and also our team has different OS systems. We also had issues with Github and merging conflicts we struggled a lot in the beginning when trying to figure out how to collaborate since all of us only had minimal use with Github.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud that we were able to come up with an interactive program that we can present to others and we are very proud of our ability to quickly learn and adapt due to the limited capabilities we had coming into this.

What we learned

We learned how to collaborate with each other, integrate a 3rd party API, program with a new application, use CSS and python. All of us have minimal exposure to python since most of our classes have been in Java.
