Inspiration

In today's digital world, staying productive while browsing online is challenging, especially with privacy concerns around data sharing. PureFocus AI was inspired by the desire to combine cutting-edge AI-driven productivity insights with complete user privacy, leveraging Chrome’s built-in Gemini Nano model to run fully offline.

What it does

PureFocus AI tracks your browsing time across all sites and provides a personalized Focus Score and actionable insights. It suggests focused work blocks and highlights patterns that help improve your productivity, all while keeping your data private on your local device.

How we built it

Built as a Chrome extension using Manifest V3, PureFocus AI is developed with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. It uses Chrome’s Extensions API and local storage for data management. The Gemini Nano on-device AI model analyzes user activity completely offline to generate real-time, personalized insights.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring the Gemini Nano model processed insights efficiently while offline was challenging. Balancing privacy with meaningful AI feedback without external APIs required careful design of data storage, analysis, and UX. Creating motivating, concise advice was a creative challenge.

What we learned

What's next for PureFocus AI

Future plans include weekly focus reports, streak tracking, motivational AI summaries, and enhanced AI scoring using contextual browsing data. We aim to maintain privacy while potentially incorporating optional hybrid AI features.
