Inspiration

There are many different study spaces at Purdue, but sometimes it's hard to know which ones are open, not overcrowded, and are more suitable for quiet studying. This website idea helps solve these issues by giving in-depth information to students about anything you would ever need to know regarding the study spaces.

What it does

The website shows the avaliability of different rooms, lists food options that are nearby, and describes how loud the study spaces are.

How we built it

We primarily used React.js to build our website, and we used CSS for the website's design.

Challenges we ran into

We initially had challenges using Github and sharing our code with each other. Overtime, we learned how to use Github commands and by the end of the hackathon we were able to use git commands without any issues. There was also a large learning curve with using React.js, CSS, and Javascript, as we were all beginners with no prior experience in these languages.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although our website is not fully funcitonal, we are proud of creating a website that can route to different pages considering that none of us have ever created a website before.

What we learned

We learned how to use git, React.js, CSS, and Javascript. We learned how to collaborate as a team on a project and we learned basic concepts for website building.

What's next for Purdue Study Spaces

Creating full functionality of the website, including the ability to reserve rooms, leave reviews and ratings, being able to see the actual current capacity of study spaces, designing the website to be more visually appealing, etc.
