Inspiration

As college students, we realized how little personal finance is taught in school. We wanted to create a simple, fun way to help others like us build essential money skills.

What it does

Purdue Student Financing is a gamified quiz app that teaches users about budgeting, saving, credit, and investing through interactive questions and scenarios.

How we built it

We built it using Java and Swing for the interface, combining game mechanics with educational content. We focused on clean design, user experience, and informative feedback.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Designing questions that are both educational and engaging

  2. Keeping the UI simple while adding gamified features

  3. Making finance concepts easy to understand

  4. Accomplishments that we're proud of

  5. Creating a working MVP in a short time

  6. Making financial literacy more accessible

  7. Receiving positive feedback from peers

What we learned?

  1. How to simplify complex topics

  2. How to design intuitive UIs

  3. The value of teamwork and rapid iteration

What's next for Purdue Student Financing?

  1. Add levels and unlockable content

  2. Track progress and scores

  3. Expand topics (e.g. taxes, student loans)

  4. Release it to Purdue students as a free tool
