Inspiration
There are 40000 students in purdue and 100s of events happening every day.Some of the ways organizers try to connect with the participants is to send emails to people they know, create facebook event and send invites to all their friends, chalking their event on footpath, posting their event banners on board and what not ! Why not have a common medium for all this. That's why we thought of creating an app which can hold all this information together.
What it does
It lists events with their details that are relevant to you. You can mark a particular event to get reminded. We were able to complete the server part of reminder notification. We were able to build an app that works at the end of hackathon.
How we built it
We made an android app and a GCM XMPP server in java.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the code didn't work nice together. We were not able to complete the client part of the reminder portion.

A working prototype of what we thought at the end !
What we learned
That android programming is hard.
