Inspiration
We wanted to make an easy way to track calories and different macronutrients without having to manually look up data for every food.
What it does
Takes information from Purdue Dining and uses counters to increment based on serving sizes. At the top of the webpage there is information about the total calories, fat, protein, carbs, and sodium.
How we built it
We utilized HTML, CSS, and JS together to make the webpage functional and interactive.
Challenges we ran into
Using JS to make the buttons work and update the totals was a big challenge. Additionally collaborating through Github using git commands for the first time was a big hurdle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are all proud of our accomplishment of making our first functional web page with no prior experience. The hackathon also helped us improve our communication and teamwork skills.
What we learned
We have all learned basic git commands such as git add, git commit, and git push. Additionally we have learned the basics of HTML, CSS, and JS.
What's next for Purdue Dining Nutrition Calculator
We hope to continue expanding the variety of foods that are available in the calculator and maybe even make it update with the daily foods from the different dining halls.
