Inspiration
Plants can't express their thoughts. So we gave them a voice.
What it does
It measures various variables in the environment including humidity, soil moisture, among other variables. Using these variables and the OpenAI API we give plants more "character" and a voice to speak their concerns. Whether it's demanding more water, insulting the owner for being bad at gardening, or telling puns!
How we built it
We built Pun Plant using the OpenAI API and various arduino sensor modules hooked up to an ESP32.
Challenges we ran into
Initially we didn't have a soil moisture sensor so we built one from scratch. It was REAL annoying to get working but in the end we pulled it off.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Wiring up the hardware was a nightmare so we are pretty proud of accomplishing that.
What we learned
Don't make DIY Arduino modules (it'll drive you insane).
What's next for PunPlant
Probably adding text to speech and other modules for more interactivity.
