🎃 Inspiration

We wanted to create something fun, creative, and interactive that brings the cozy magic of autumn to life. We imagined a virtual garden where players could plant seeds, grow pumpkins, harvest crops, and enjoy building their own little farming world.

That idea became PumpkinVerse — A Little World of Magic! 🌱

Our goal was to create a browser-based game that is easy to explore, enjoyable to play, and visually appealing.

🌟 What It Does

PumpkinVerse is a pumpkin farming game built using TypeScript, Phaser, and Vite.

Players can explore their garden, move around using keyboard controls, interact with farming plots, and participate in the planting and harvesting gameplay loop.

Key Highlights

  • 🎮 Interactive keyboard-based gameplay
  • 🌱 Garden exploration and plot interactions
  • 🎃 Pumpkin farming and harvesting gameplay
  • 🪙 In-game coins and seeds
  • 🛒 Shop and garden customization modules
  • 🎁 A daily rewards module
  • 💾 Local browser storage for supported progress
  • 🌐 A browser-based experience accessible through a live website

Some features may depend on the current implementation, so we test the deployed version to confirm that each feature works as expected.

🛠️ How We Built It

We chose technologies that make browser-based game development accessible and flexible.

Technology Stack

  • TypeScript: Used for application logic and game behavior.
  • Phaser: Provides the framework for the interactive 2D game.
  • Vite: Powers the development server and production build.
  • HTML5: Provides the web application structure.
  • CSS3: Handles the interface styling.
  • LocalStorage: Supports saving selected game data in the browser.
  • Git and GitHub: Help manage and share the source code.
  • Netlify: Hosts the live game.

We organized the source code into modules for game initialization, the main game scene, interface components, and supporting UI features.

This modular structure makes it easier to maintain the project and add new functionality over time.

🧩 Challenges We Ran Into

One of our main challenges was bringing the different parts of a browser game together into a cohesive experience.

Player movement, plot interactions, game state, and interface components need to work together correctly. A feature may appear simple on its own, but connecting it to the rest of the game requires careful implementation and testing.

We also needed to ensure that the project could be built for production and deployed as a working website.

These challenges taught us to test individual features, check browser errors, and verify the live version instead of relying only on the development environment.

🏆 Accomplishments We're Proud Of

We are proud to have developed PumpkinVerse into a browser-based farming game with its own theme, project structure, and live deployment.

Our accomplishments include:

  • Creating a game concept with a clear identity.
  • Building the project with TypeScript and Phaser.
  • Organizing game logic and UI code into separate modules.
  • Developing a farming-focused gameplay experience.
  • Setting up a modern development workflow with Vite.
  • Publishing the project online through Netlify.
  • Preparing the source code and documentation for public presentation.

Most importantly, PumpkinVerse gives us a foundation that we can continue improving after the hackathon.

📚 What We Learned

Working on PumpkinVerse helped us understand how to combine a game framework with modern web development tools.

We gained practical experience with TypeScript, Phaser, project organization, keyboard input, interactive gameplay, development builds, and deployment.

We also learned that building a good project involves more than writing code. Testing, documentation, usability, and presenting the project clearly are all important parts of the development process.

🚀 What's Next for PumpkinVerse?

We want to continue expanding PumpkinVerse into a richer and more engaging farming experience.

Potential future improvements include:

  • 🌻 More crops and seed varieties
  • 🏡 Additional garden decorations
  • 🏆 Achievements and player challenges
  • 🌦️ Seasonal weather and autumn events
  • 🎵 Background music and sound effects
  • 📱 Improved mobile controls
  • ✨ More animations and visual effects
  • 🌱 Expanded farming and progression systems

These improvements would help make the garden feel more alive while preserving the simplicity of the core gameplay.

💚 Final Thoughts

PumpkinVerse represents our love for creative ideas and interactive experiences.

We wanted to build a small world where players can explore, grow, and enjoy the magic of farming directly in their browser.

This project is a starting point, and we are excited about the possibilities for its future.

🎃 PumpkinVerse — Plant. Grow. Harvest. Repeat. 🌱
