Synopsis
PulsePause was inspired by the growing need for digital spaces that promote mental wellness in small, accessible ways — especially for communities where emotional health is still a taboo topic. We noticed that people across all generations and backgrounds often carry stress or burnout without support, and that the conversation around emotional wellbeing is still stigmatized in many parts of the world. That insight sparked the idea of a wellness app that helps users pause, breathe, and reflect — even for just a minute.
Solving a Problem
PulsePause directly addresses the Bridging Gaps theme by making mental wellness age-inclusive, tech-friendly, and culturally sensitive. Our clean, intuitive design bridges generational gaps — whether you’re a teen new to mindfulness or an elder new to technology. By offering simple mood check-ins and short, guided activities, PulsePause helps users build emotional literacy without feeling overwhelmed.
Journey
We built the prototype using Figma and focused on mobile-first UI/UX principles that prioritize clarity and comfort. Throughout the process, we learned that accessibility isn’t just about screen readers or font sizes — it’s about emotional access too. One challenge we faced was keeping the app engaging without cluttering it with features. In the end, PulsePause became more than just a wellness app — it became a tool for bridging social, generational, and emotional divides, one mindful pause at a time.
