Our inspiration stems from a clear observation: while FNB serves millions, a significant portion of its commercial bank customers are excluded from formal investment opportunities due to high minimums, perceived complexity, and risk aversion.

Simultaneously, FNB, through RMB, possesses immense investment expertise and capital. We envisioned a "Bank of the Future" that truly democratizes wealth creation—leveraging FNB's trusted brand and digital capabilities to bridge this gap.

PulseInvest is our answer – a platform that empowers every Motswana to participate in meaningful wealth growth, fostering financial inclusion and creating a powerful new revenue stream for FNB.


💼 What It Does

PulseInvest is a digital investment platform designed for FNB Botswana's commercial bank customers. It allows individuals to:

  • 💰 Pool Funds: Invest as little as BWP 150 into a collective investment vehicle.
  • 📈 Choose Guaranteed Returns: Select a desired return from attractive tiers (e.g., 5% to 25%).
  • 🤖 AI-Powered Time Recommendations: Our intelligent calculator instantly provides the minimum holding period required for their chosen return, tailored to their investment and market conditions.
  • 🧠 Experience Simplicity: The platform handles all the complexity, making investing accessible to everyone, regardless of financial expertise.
  • 🏦 Benefit from RMB Expertise: Funds are strategically deployed by RMB into high-performance portfolios to ensure guaranteed payouts.

In essence, PulseInvest transforms FNB into a proactive enabler of mass-market wealth creation, offering a secure, transparent, and rewarding investment experience.


🛠 How We Will Build It

We will develop PulseInvest as a web-first prototype, focusing on the core user journey and key functionalities:

  • Frontend:
    Built with React for a responsive and intuitive user interface that works seamlessly across desktop and mobile.

  • Backend:
    Powered by Node.js, responsible for core logic and handling user requests.

  • Database (Simulated):
    Utilizes Firebase Firestore to simulate storing investment records and managing investment windows.

  • AI Calculator Engine (Prototype):
    A simplified rule-based engine to estimate holding time based on amount and desired return.
    (Future plans include integrating real-time ML and financial data feeds.)

  • Authentication (Simulated):
    Basic user authentication mimicking secure access through FNB’s digital ecosystem.

Our focus is on validating the product’s core value proposition through a usable, demonstrative prototype within the hackathon timeframe.

    Even in simulation, we prioritized a bank-grade design philosophy for data privacy and flow control.

    Condensing a big vision into a tight prototype required focused execution and fast iteration.
