Inspiration:

The inspiration behind PULSE BRIDGE stemmed from the urgent need to create a seamless healthcare experience that connects patients, caregivers, and community resources. We envisioned a system that not only delivers care but also fosters continuity and community engagement—especially for underserved populations.

What it does

PULSE BRIDGE is a smart, dual-sided health coordination system designed as a feasible, card-based solution for hospitals and individuals to manage and access critical medical and donor-related information. The platform is structured as a physical or digital card interface—with two distinct sides, each serving a specialized audience:

🩺 Front Side: Personalized Medical Snapshot (Access: Hospital Management Only) This side offers a clinically rich view of the patient, meant exclusively for hospital staff and authorized medical personnel. It consolidates the most critical health data into modular, scannable segments: 🎯 Patient Identity & Biometrics: Name, age, height, weight, blood group, allergies—basic yet vital patient identifiers. 🧠 Scan & Diagnostic Summary: Tags and summaries of major imaging results and medical diagnoses. 💊 Prescription Timeline: Tracks medication cycles, dosage changes, and physician notes. 📈 Health Progress Tracker: Visualizes patient vitals, milestone recoveries, and treatment trajectories. 🧾 Insurance & Subsidy Snapshot: Financial support info, linked schemes, and coverage details. 🧒 Family Health Linkage: Connects patient profiles with family cards to trace hereditary risks, activate emergency contacts, and extend donor eligibility across family units. 🔒 Secure QR/NFC Tag: Embedded tech linking to an encrypted health record system for real-time updates and authentication.

🌐 Back Side: Hospital Web Portal Access (Access: Public—Patients, Donors, Staff) This side empowers patients, donors, and volunteers to interact with live hospital data and community features, enhancing transparency and engagement: 🩸 Live Blood & Organ Availability Dashboard: Displays real-time availability across hospital branches with urgency indicators. 🎖️ Donor Impact Visualizer: Celebrates donor contributions with anonymized success stories and lifesaving stats. 💌 Gratitude Messaging to Donors: Enables recipients and families to send secure notes or voice messages to anonymous donors. 🔔 Health Event Notifications: Pushes tailored alerts about donation camps, checkups, and awareness events based on user location and profile. 🧪 Predictive Health Alerts (AI-based): Uses medical history to recommend screenings or flag potential risks proactively. 🧭 Emergency Resource Locator: Geo-based tool to find nearby blood banks, ambulances, and hospitals—complete with live availability. 🧬 Patient Eligibility Checker: A quick-scan tool to assess qualification for organ donation, clinical trials, or special treatments. 🧩 Community Bulletin & Local Health Threads: A moderated forum where patients, donors, and healthcare staff share tips, stories, and support—building a vibrant care ecosystem.

🔄 Access & Usability

  • The Front Side is secure and accessible only by hospital management using QR/NFC verification—ensuring data privacy and clinical integrity.
  • The Back Side is designed for public access, allowing users to engage with donation updates, community modules, and emergency features—making healthcare more transparent and participatory.

How we built it

  • Frontend: React.js for a responsive and intuitive user interface
  • Backend: Node.js and Express for scalable APIs
  • Database: MongoDB for flexible data storag

Challenges we ran into

  • Ensuring data privacy and compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Integrating diverse community resource databases
  • Designing a user-friendly interface for both tech-savvy and non-tech users
  • Managing real-time data flow from health devices

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully built a working prototype within the hackathon timeframe
  • Created a unified dashboard that visualizes patient health and community engagement
  • Received positive feedback from mentors and peers for our concept and execution

What we learned

  • The importance of user-centric design in healthcare tech
  • How to navigate interoperability challenges between systems
  • That community involvement is crucial for sustainable healthcare solutions

What's next for PULSE BRIDGE

  • Expanding the platform to support multilingual interfaces
  • Partnering with local clinics and NGOs for pilot testing
  • Incorporating AI-driven health insights and predictive analytics
  • Building a mobile app version for broader accessibility
