Pulsar Chat App

This is a chat app based on redis with basic chat features. It works for both web and mobile apps as it is backed by API. Due to time limitation I only be able to work on web based app.

What it does

It is redis based chat app with all basic chat features, it comes with API to work with mobile apps as well. It will work both like normal chat application like Slack, Fb etc, also it is scoped to worked for websites as well like Intercom to connect website managers with their online customers.

How we built it

We use following technologies

  • Laravel
  • Redis
  • VueJs
  • Websocket

Challenges we ran into

Due to shortage of time and exit of my other team due to their family matters I only have to work on it alone from almost start, due to which I just been able to manage make web-app working. But implemented almost all of the APIs, just few frontend-related things got missed due to shortage of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I usually work with Laravel but in this app I work in-depth for the very first time with Redis and Vue.Js and those were really challenging for me, but now in just 2 days I am able to handle any kind of situation with those technologies.

What we learned

I learned to work with Redis and Vue.Js and feel like Intermediate in both technologies.

What's next for Pulsar Chat App

Will have plans to complete it with more features I thought and try to bring it on a big level and make it live globally. Some of the future features will be

  • Almost all features (for now other than video call) like Slack and WhatsApp
  • Make it like to handle website chats as well to connect website admin with their visitors like Intercom
  • Each organization can have their own app with branding etc
