Inspiration

Many people are unaware of government welfare schemes they are eligible for due to scattered information, complex eligibility rules, and lack of easy-to-understand explanations. During our research, we realized that even students and workers who qualify for benefits often miss them simply because they do not know where to look. This inspired us to build a simple and accessible solution to bridge this information gap.

What it does

Public Welfare Scheme Finder helps users identify government welfare schemes they may be eligible for by entering basic personal details such as age, income, state, and category. The application filters relevant schemes and presents them in a clear and structured manner.
To improve understanding, the system can also explain eligibility conditions and scheme benefits in simple language, making it easier for users to take the next steps.

How we built it

The project was built as a web-based application using a clean frontend interface and backend logic to match user details with predefined scheme eligibility criteria.
We structured the welfare scheme data carefully and implemented logic to filter results accurately. The focus was on simplicity, usability, and accessibility so that users from different backgrounds can easily use the application.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was organizing complex and varied eligibility rules into a format that could be processed logically while still remaining understandable to users. Designing an interface that is both simple and informative also required multiple iterations and testing to ensure clarity.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully developed a working prototype that demonstrates how technology can simplify access to public welfare information. The project clearly shows how eligibility-based filtering can help users quickly find relevant schemes without confusion.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to translate real-world policy rules into application logic, improve user experience design, and build a complete web application from idea to deployment. We also gained a deeper understanding of how technology can be used for social good.

What's next for Public Welfare Scheme Finder

In the future, we plan to expand the database with more schemes, add multilingual support, and integrate AI-based assistance to provide personalized explanations, document guidance, and conversational support to users for better accessibility.
