Inspiration

The inspiration for Ember stems from a fundamental challenge in psychology and mental healthcare: the difficulty of objectively measuring a patient's emotional state. Clinicians and researchers often rely on subjective self-reporting and behavioral observation, which can be inconsistent and hard to quantify. As a psychology major, I saw an opportunity to bridge this gap by leveraging the power of multimodal AI. The Google Gemini Hackathon was the perfect catalyst to explore how advanced AI could be used to create a tool that provides clinicians with a "lens" into the human psyche, capturing the subtle, unspoken data of emotion and transforming it into clear, actionable insights for therapy and research.
