Inspiration

I grew up in Tarma, a small city in the Peruvian Andes. When I was in high school, I dreamed of studying, joining projects, and accessing opportunities that could change my future. But there was a problem: no one told us those opportunities existed. Scholarships, leadership programs, and global initiatives for girls were real, but they never reached my school. Some programs occasionally visited, but many students — including me — didn’t meet the requirements because we had never had access to extracurricular experiences like volunteering, competitions, or leadership projects. Years later, when I was already in university, I discovered organizations like Technovation Girls, Laboratoria, and Enseña Perú. They had existed the entire time — I just didn’t know about them when it mattered most. Every year when I return to Tarma, I visit my former school and talk to girls who have the same dreams I had. They want to study, lead projects, and change their communities. But they face the same problem: they don't know what steps to take today to build their future. That’s why I created Prueba — Del Presente al Futuro. Because talent is everywhere. But opportunities are not.

What it does

Prueba is a platform that helps girls build real competitive advantage starting in high school. Instead of just showing random links to opportunities, the platform creates a personalized roadmap based on a student’s: age, interests, academic profile, access to resources The system then recommends relevant opportunities such as: scholarships, competitions, leadership programs, volunteering experiences, courses and events Students can see a clear timeline of actions that help them gradually build their profile and access bigger opportunities. The goal is simple: help students move from talent → strategy → opportunity.

How we built it

During the 48-hour #SheShips hackathon, we built a first MVP of the platform focused on two core features:

  1. Student onboarding Students answer a few simple questions: age, city, interests (STEM, leadership, entrepreneurship, etc.), academic signals (grades, English level, activities)
  2. Opportunity matching The system tags opportunities using categories like: type (scholarship, program, course, event), area (STEM, leadership, entrepreneurship), level (exploration, development), location (remote, Peru, international) Based on this information, the platform generates: a personalized roadmap, a list of relevant opportunities We focused on a mobile-first and simple interface, designed for students in regions with limited access to information.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was defining the core feature. At first, the idea was simply to create a database of opportunities. But we realized that information alone doesn’t solve the problem. Students also need guidance and strategy. Another challenge was designing a simple system that can still personalize recommendations without requiring too much data from students during onboarding. We had to balance simplicity and meaningful personalization.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of transforming a personal story into a real tool that could help thousands of girls. During the hackathon we: Built a working MVP Designed a personalized roadmap system Created an opportunity matching structure Defined a clear social impact metric Most importantly, we created the platform that I wish I had when I was 16.

What we learned

This project reinforced an important insight: The problem isn’t only lack of opportunities — it’s lack of structured access to them. Many students are talented and ambitious, but they don’t know: which skills matter, which opportunities exist, when to apply, how to prepare for them We also learned that small design decisions can dramatically change accessibility, especially for students from underserved regions.

What's next for Prueba Del Presente al Futuro

Our next steps are focused on turning this MVP into a real tool for students. Next milestones include: expanding the opportunity database for Latin America, adding mentorship connections, integrating progress tracking and skill verification, partnering with schools to test the platform with real students Our long-term vision is to create a system that helps girls everywhere build strategic pathways to education, leadership, and global opportunities. Because the future should not depend on where you were born.
