This project used to learn proverbs through playing trivia for kids.

Inspiration

The new technique of Multimodal APL option inspired me to get into it. Finally, I developed a skill which works on all Alexa devices with an interactive response to kids and feeling inspired about it.

What it does

This project makes the kids learn various proverbs by playing the trivia game. Usually, kids feel bored with learning proverbs by textbooks. This trivia skill asks for missing word in a proverb. Even if the answer is wrong, it responses with the correct answer.

How I built it

I just had a look into some sample skills i.e., space explorer (APL), trivia and it gave me a base idea to create APL multimodal trivia based kid skill. I also took reference of APL blog.

Challenges I ran into

Initially, I couldn't get the skill to identify alternates words for a particular answer. I couldn't get a random word from the proverb sentence as blank to find the answer.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I developed the skill which is finally working on all devices and also working for alternate values (synonyms) for the answer and am feeling happy about it. Looking to deploy more APL skills.

What I learned

Usage of data along with Presentation Language, Usage of APL interface, understanding of checklist required for developing multimodal skill, Got familiar with the usage HTML/CSS codings.

What's next for Proverb Trivia

Going to add more proverbs along with random explanatory backgrounds which may help the kids to remember and understand with perfect visual experience.
