Inspiration
When a photo is reposted without credit, the copy usually has no camera metadata left. The photographer's real evidence is already in their own archive: the original file, the frames shot around it, and the time of the shoot. A UGREEN AI NAS is where that archive lives, so we built a Skill that turns it into an evidence pack.
What it does
ProveItsMine has three modes:
- Ledger: when you name an import folder, it groups the photos into camera sessions, hashes every frame, can describe one frame per session (you are asked every run), and saves a ledger after your approval.
- Copied-photo pack: you save the copy to the NAS. The Skill describes it, Recall suggests the session it may come from (a hint, you confirm), you pick the original, and it collects the same-camera frames shot around it, hashes them, checks them against your ledger and drafts a notice for your review.
- Verify: re-hashes every file a ledger lists and reports unchanged, changed or missing.
Every write waits for your approval. AI output is always a hint, never evidence.
How we built it
The Skill is Markdown only (SKILL.md plus three references), written with the official UGREEN Skill Developer Package (uliya-skill-kit 0.7.3). It delegates to four NAS agents (file-agent, photo-agent, knowledge-agent, document-agent) using only actions listed in the capability catalog, and it passes the kit's static checker. We built a fully synthetic 75-image test set with fictional camera metadata, so no personal photos are used. AI tool used: Claude Code.
Challenges we ran into
- The static checker is strict: exact headings, Unicode arrows in capability lines, and some normal safety sentences trigger security errors, so we tested every edit.
- No catalog action matches a resized copy to its original, so the design keeps the user in charge of that decision.
- Where the NAS vision and drafting models run is not documented, so the Skill discloses this and asks before describing private originals.
What we learned
Honest limits make a stronger tool: a hash only shows a file has not changed since it was hashed, and metadata can be edited. ProveItsMine is a self-held evidence pack, not legal advice.
What's next
Validate every step on a real UGREEN AI NAS, measure how well Recall suggests sessions, and refine the notice draft.
