This code was inspired by the desire to solve social problems. In deciding which problems to solve, the programmers listed a plethora of various present-day social issues, including police brutality and the wage gap. The programmers decided that the best program would be one that could help solve all types of social problems, not just one or two. Therefore, the programmers decided to create Protestr, a program which will allow Virginia public college students to organize and protest in the name of whatever social issues matter the most to them. The programmers targeted Virginia public college students for two reasons. First, they wanted to keep the initial population small. In the future, the programmers hope to expand Protestr to private colleges and to colleges of other states. Second, the programmers believed that college students would be a great initial population given the energy and political activism that they possess. The programmers are proud to have created a website which will facilitate college students in creating protests to help solve all types of social issues. The programmers are also proud of creating a coherent and complicated website, despite time constraint, Jimmy Johns food poisoning, and various other mishaps.
