The Heart

This new structure of newsletters champions the activist at heart. Political fatigue is real, but so is the passion behind showing up for communities all around the world. I wanted to step it to lighten the burden of educating, but also to offer a collection of resources in one click that could help a new activist stay safe in the rallies.

Cool things I got to work with

This project was inspired by youth revolutions and the international trend of political activism. Having this passion is for everyone. In that regard, I championed inclusivity in my design, the app boasts 104 translation languages and a speech to text scanner. I wanted to challenge myself in expanding my horizons, so I scoured GIS databases for spreadsheets of active protest, numbers, countries, dates, durations, and also for the interactive world maps on my website! The interface is very user friendly to accomadate.

The Games

The best way to learn is by active recall. This project is a stance against passive learning, and I wanted my work to be meaningful enough to leave learn the background, see new perspectives, learn the facts, and inspire an audience to be safe but motivated protestors. The game sharpens the mind, gamifies this heavy topic, and leads to the action step given at the end of the site.

Coding

The databases were transferred through PHP. The wording is mostly HTML and CSS, JavaScript is for the animations.

Challenges

My biggest challenge was finding a domain host for this website! Please determine my work from the videos, I had to break up my website to three URLs as opposed to being fined $40. This was so much fun to work on!
