Inspiration

Inspired by the struggle many face in maintaining consistent fitness routines and tracking protein intake, we sought to create a solution that transforms protein tracking from a mundane task into an engaging and motivating game. Our goal was to inspire users to stay committed to their fitness goals through excitement and social interaction.

What it does

Protein Planet is a gamified app that makes tracking protein intake fun and engaging. Users can visualize their progress with exciting graphics, compete with friends, and earn coins to customize their avatars. The app aims to simplify protein tracking and make it a seamless part of their fitness journey.

How it was built

Design Thinking Approach: Conducted surveys, user interviews, and competitive analysis to understand user needs. Prototyping: Developed wireframes from sketches to high-fidelity designs, incorporating feedback from usability testing. Development Tools: Utilized design tools like Figma for wireframing and prototyping, and employed iterative testing to refine user experience.

Challenges

User Interface Design: Initially, users found some UI elements confusing. We had to simplify labels and improve navigation based on feedback. Motivation Features: Balancing the competitive aspect without overwhelming users was tricky. We had to fine-tune the game mechanics and social features.

Accomplishments

User Engagement: Successfully transformed protein tracking into a game, with 90.5% of surveyed users finding visual progress tracking helpful. Team Collaboration: Maintained excellent team synergy, ensuring we stayed on schedule and delivered a product we're all passionate about. Positive Feedback: The app's intuitive design and motivational features received positive feedback during usability testing, with users appreciating the game's simplicity and fun elements.

What I learned

User-Centered Design: The importance of continuous user feedback and iterative design to create a product that truly meets user needs. Collaboration and Communication: Effective teamwork and clear communication are crucial for project success, especially in a multidisciplinary team. Time Management: Managing time efficiently and staying organized were key to completing the project on schedule and to a high standard.
