Inspiration

My inspiration has always been to create things that can help people— something capable of making a big impact, while also offering a solution to a growing problem in my country due to the use of new technologies. Banking apps, shopping platforms, and similar services are becoming increasingly secure. However, users are not typically affected once inside these applications—but rather before they enter them.

What it does

Protector is an intelligent web filter designed to detect corrupted websites dedicated to digital scams. It performs real-time verification of whether a URL is legitimate or fraudulent by comparing it with threat databases and using AI to identify suspicious patterns—such as fake domains or cloned layouts.

It keeps an anonymous record of reported URLs. It manages a ranking of the most-consulted URLs by users, helping authorities identify these scammers and serving as a tool for law enforcement.

It educates users through clear alerts and practical tips for recognizing dangerous sites. It also includes an informational section to help users train themselves and stay informed.

How we built it

I built everything using Bolt and Supabase, designing multiple prompts focused on identifying different patterns to detect corrupted or fraudulent URLs.

Challenges we ran into

Being able to immediately recognize URLs using different detection patterns was a major goal. There were moments when this became quite challenging, as the results didn’t meet expectations. However, with time and effort, I was able to achieve favorable outcomes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I was able to develop a functional tool that can help many people, while also sparking an initiative and taking a major step forward in the development of technological solutions in a country where this is still something new.

What we learned

Technology is advancing at a rapid pace, and creative solutions are essential to combat the new threats that come with it. Together with AI, we now have the ability to build incredible tools that can positively impact our society.

What's next for PROtector

The next step is to implement improvements in PROtector— expanding its reach to the banks in my country, where most scam cases are concentrated. The goal is to integrate this tool within public institutions and law enforcement, so it can become a resource for protecting all citizens.
