Inspiration

Five years ago, my life took a devastating turn when my father fell victim to a cybercrime that robbed him of his entire life savings. Despite having crucial information about the fraudsters, the bank and law enforcement agencies failed to take decisive action. The trauma of losing my father, coupled with the frustration of seeing his perpetrators walk free, ignited a burning desire within me to create change. This hackathon project is a testament to my father's memory and a step towards ensuring that no one else suffers the same fate.

What it does

PROTECTA has the potential to:

  3. Provide emotional support to victims
  4. Foster a sense of community and safety

How I built it

My project, PROTECTA , is a Crime Reporting and Safety Escort App aimed at revolutionizing the way we tackle crime. The app's key features include:

  1. User-friendly reporting interface
  2. Real-time location tracking for emergency responses using AI
  3. Secure data storage and encryption
  4. Collaboration tools for law agencies enforcement
  5. Safety escort features for vulnerable individuals Using Figma, I designed a visually appealing, prototyped and intuitive interface, ensuring seamless navigation for users.

Challenges

As a solo team, I faced numerous challenges, from conceptualization to prototyping. The most significant hurdle was shouldering all responsibilities, from research to design. However, this experience taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance.

What we learned

Through this experience, I realized that effective innovation can profoundly impact humanity. The lack of efficient reporting mechanisms and inadequate coordination between authorities allowed the perpetrators to evade justice. This gap in the system motivated me to design a comprehensive solution that bridges the divide between citizens, law enforcement, and law agencies.
