Inspiration
Insurance fraud has implications far beyond just financial loss the company. It affects customer satisfaction by taking away resources from the legitimate claims, increasing costly policies, and overall undermining the integrity of the insurance system. With AI models becoming better and more commonplace than ever, they can offer an easy and innovative solution to this problem.
What it does
Protect the Farm allows users to insert data about their case which is then sent to ChatGPT to search for possible implications of insurance fraud. The data our app requests are common indicators of insurance fraud, allowing our app to search in a more specific set of data (rather than the claim as a whole).
How we built it
We used React to build our app. We coded the front end in JavaScript and CSS and included an API call to ChatGPT.
Challenges we ran into
Our group has very limited experience with React and working with creating webpages, so we had numerous challenges when learning how the platform worked and all the features that were available.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud that we were able to successfully call the ChatGPT API and utilize it in our app. We not only had a successful call, but were able to display our results on the screen in the final app.
What we learned
We learned a number of things during this hackathon, including how to use JavaScript and CSS to make front end pages as well as how to work with API calls.
What's next for Protect the Farm
We hope to include more user information, including their past insurance claims. With this saved in a database, we want to add this to the list of things that our model considers when deciding the likelihood of insurance fraud.
