ProsePilot is a single-agent AI writing co-pilot for creators and small-business owners. You give it a writing goal (blog outline, rewrite, multi-platform post, SEO research) and the Strands Agent delegates the busywork to tools:
draft_section— produces a focused section on a topicsocial_pack— turns one idea into Twitter / LinkedIn / Reddit copyseo_keywords— returns 10 SEO keywordsword_count— deterministic helper
It surfaces a short "next step" suggestion when done, so the human stays in the loop for the creative decisions — exactly the "agent that runs quietly in the background" spirit of the hackathon.
How we built it
- AWS Strands Agents SDK (
strands) as the agent framework, with real@tooltool use. - Model backend is agnes (
apihub.agnes-ai.com), an OpenAI-compatible endpoint wired in via Strands'OpenAIModel(client_args={api_key, base_url})— no Bedrock, no AWS account required. - A Gradio
ChatInterfacewraps the agent as a live demo. - Pure Python, MIT-licensed, fully open source.
Challenges we ran into
Confirming Strands' OpenAIModel accepts a custom base_url (it does — verified against an OpenAI-compatible provider). This let us meet the "built with Strands" requirement while staying vendor-neutral and free to run.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- A working agent that autonomously calls 5 tools to produce a complete blog package from one prompt.
- Zero infrastructure cost — no AWS billing, no credit card, no paid cloud.
- Clean, documented, MIT-licensed codebase with architecture diagram.
What we learned
Strands' OpenAI provider is the cleanest way to satisfy "use Strands" while keeping your own model backend. Tool delegation also produces better, more structured writing output than monolithic prompts.
What's next
- Deploy the Gradio demo to a public Hugging Face Space for a live link.
- Add RAG over the user's own style guide / past posts for personalized tone.
- A "batch content calendar" mode that plans a week of posts end to end.
