Purchase a Home History Report using a smart contract.

Inspiration

I have experience building a property management system that keep tracks of maintenance requests from tenants in different buildings.

We as a team researched the problems facing the real estate world and found that acamedics in this space idenitified that one of the big risks in real estate transaction is not knowing the condition of a property that they are purchasing.

You can hire a home inspector but that gives you an evaluation based on one day's data and doesn't identify issues that cannot be seen.

If you are looking to purchase a home, what type of information would you want to know about that property.

• Does it heat & cool in all areas of the houses properly?
• Is there mold in the house?
• Has there been any damage internally due to a water leak?

These issues are not easily identified by a home inspector.

What it does

Now imagine if you could purchase a Home History report just the way you purchase a carfax report when you buy a car.

We use data from Nest & Honeywell leak and use BlockKit to upload it to blockchain.

The data is used to provide a rating of a house similar to Energy efficiency scores.

We calculate the rating based on temperatures and humidity from all zones of a house, as well as the frequency of alarms, water leaks.

Existing home owners can brag about their ratings and sell their home quickly if it has solid rating.

How I built it

• We started with inception
• Brainstorming problems across many industries
• Through research found a Real Estate which led us to our problems
• Backend: AION
• Frontend: React
• Security: SHA-3 to be implemented in the future

Challenges I ran into

• Learning curve - new languages while developing a new product
• Time constraint
• One person left the team

• Code the Smart Contract to connect to the data

• Figuring out the commercial transaction - Ordering the Home History Report

What's next for Proptrack

This is also useful for people looking for fixer uppers to find lower score properties and convert them to a Gem.

Later we plan to introduce more features such as sound and light reports to assist buyers know more about the neighbourhood.

IoT devices and AI on the rise - we will be on the front line with cutting edge blockchain to harness all three technologies to solve real estate transaction risks and inefficiencies.
