ProPhrase has its roots in a personal struggle – the challenges faced due to dyslexia. It was this firsthand experience that fueled the project's inception. The goal was to transform a personal obstacle into a universal solution. Witnessing technology's power in aiding the writing process, especially for dyslexic individuals, became the driving force behind ProPhrase. The aim? To offer support not only to those with dyslexia but also to students, teachers, and anyone navigating the learning journey. What it does

ProPhrase, our Chrome extension, redefines the way you write. A simple right-click transforms your selected text, providing intelligent suggestions for grammar, language enhancement, and clarity. Tailored for individuals with dyslexia, students, and educators, ProPhrase elevates everyday writing to professional, polished content. Whether it's assignments, emails, or creative pieces, ProPhrase ensures your words are clear, concise, and impactful – an instant upgrade to your written communication.

How we built it

ProPhrase took shape pragmatically by integrating OpenAI's advanced language models into a Chrome extension. We streamlined the process by directly injecting text using the Chrome API's DOM manipulation techniques. This straightforward integration resulted in a user-friendly experience, making ProPhrase accessible and effective for diverse user needs.

Challenges we ran into

Developing ProPhrase came with its fair share of challenges, primarily concerning the Chrome API. The available knowledge and resources proved less clear than anticipated, making integration complexities arise. The introduction of Manifest V3 further complicated matters, demanding adaptation to updated guidelines. Bugs within the Chrome API added unexpected hurdles, calling for thorough troubleshooting and unconventional solutions.
