Inspiration
Managing rental properties is often stressful and scattered — spreadsheets for payments, calls for maintenance, and paperwork for leases. We wanted to build something that makes property management simple, smart, and accessible for everyone — landlords, tenants, and managers alike.
What it does
PropertyMax centralizes the entire rental ecosystem in one platform. It allows landlords to track rent payments, monitor vacancies, and view performance insights. Tenants can submit maintenance requests, make online payments, and communicate easily with landlords. Property managers can automate reminders, manage multiple properties, and keep everything organized through one intuitive dashboard.
How we built it
We built PropertyMax using React for the frontend, Tailwind CSS for styling, and Express.js with MongoDB for the backend. The platform uses RESTful APIs for communication between client and server, ensuring scalability and security.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating real-time updates and ensuring smooth data flow between frontend and backend was challenging. We also had to carefully design the UI for clarity and responsiveness across devices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created a functional prototype with live data flow, responsive UI, and automated property tracking features — all within the hackathon timeframe.
What we learned
We learned how to coordinate frontend and backend development efficiently, implement clean API structures, and design a user-centered dashboard that balances simplicity with power.
What's next for PropertyMax
Next, we plan to add AI-powered rent analytics, maintenance scheduling automation, and secure digital lease agreements to make PropertyMax even more powerful and scalable for real-world use.
