Inspiration

As a student, I spend a lot of time sitting and studying (usually slouched over) which can be bad for your back. Having "ProperPosture" can alleviate the stress on your lower back and lead to a healthier lifestyle.

What it does

The app I made communicates over Bluetooth with an Arduino+Bluetooth Shield. The Arduino is connected to a Flex Sensor which measures your posture (the Flex Sensor is taped to a tight fitting shirt). The app stores the data it receives in CoreData and then graphs the data (as shown in the images).

How I built it

I built the app using Xcode and for the Arduino side of things I used the Arduino IDE.

Challenges I ran into

I had some trouble parsing the incoming data from the Arduino. I also started making an Apple Watch extension but didn't have enough time.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I really like the Logo and UI that I designed. This was also the first time I have ever done anything with Bluetooth.

What I learned

I learned about using Bluetooth with Arduino and iOS.

What's next for Proper Posture

Making the hardware smaller, submitting the app to the App Store, and maybe selling sensors+undershirt.
