The question we are tackling is: "What tools do teachers need most and how do classrooms differ in their needs?"
To assist teachers in this process, we are using the survey data from the Gates education data set to create a recommendation engine for digital tools in education.
1) Given an input of a characteristic that a teacher would like to improve in his/her classroom such as: -interaction between teachers and students -collaboration between students -better monitoring of student progress -allow students to practice independently
2) Given demographic information about the teacher's classroom environment such as -subject -grade level -teaching experience -percent of students learning english as a second language
We provide recommendation for digital tools in education that have been popular and effective at improving the specific characteristic of a classroom.
