Inspiration

We wanted to create a spy thriller that felt cinematic and high-stakes while showcasing the tone and world of our interactive narrative game. The challenge was condensing a multi-chapter espionage story into 90 seconds that captures the tension without spoiling key plot moments.

What it does

This trailer introduces Agent Shadow (Octazia), an octopus spy racing against time to stop Cedar Craftfeather—a red cardinal developing a devastating propaganda weapon. The trailer weaves together mission briefings, enemy threats, and glimpses of Shadow's infiltration as she prepares for her most dangerous assignment yet.

How we built it

We selected key cinematic moments from our interactive narrative and cut them into a fast-paced sequence that builds tension. Voice clips from allies and enemies create urgency while revealing just enough about the mission to hook viewers without spoiling the full experience.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing revelation and mystery. We needed viewers to understand the stakes and care about Agent Shadow's mission while preserving the surprises that make the full game compelling. Finding that line between "too cryptic" and "too revealing" required multiple editing passes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We captured the espionage thriller tone in under two minutes while establishing a world that feels both fantastical and grounded. The pacing builds genuine tension culminating in Agent Shadow's signature line: "Time to be a Shadow."

What we learned

Trailers are their own art form. What works in a full narrative doesn't always translate to 90 seconds—every second needs to either build world, establish stakes, or create emotional investment.

What's next for the Propaganda Spy Agency Trailer

The full interactive narrative is live in beta, allowing players to experience Agent Shadow's mission with branching choices that determine success or failure at every turn.
