Inspiration: Freelancers and small business owners often struggle with clunky, slow document editors that require expensive subscriptions or complex setups. We wanted to create a zero-friction tool that empowers entrepreneurs to generate high-end, professional documents in seconds without a learning curve or high costs.
What it does: Propaflow is a lightweight, privacy-first business suite that allows users to create:
Professional Project Proposals: Clean, high-contrast layouts designed for clarity.
Multi-Currency Invoices: Advanced invoicing with automated ID generation, stackable service items, and global currency support.
Secure Verification: Built-in QR codes that encode document data for instant authenticity checks.
How we built it: We prioritized speed and reliability by sticking to a Vanilla Web Stack:
HTML5 & CSS3: Leveraged advanced layouts like clip-path and @media print to ensure pixel-perfect A4 document rendering.
Vanilla JavaScript (ES6): Handled all logic—from multi-item calculations to unique ID generation—entirely in the client's browser.
QRCode.js: Integrated a lightweight library to generate dynamic verification codes.
Privacy-First Architecture: No backend, meaning user data never leaves their local machine.
Challenges we ran into: The biggest hurdle was ensuring Print-to-PDF consistency. Browsers often strip colors or add unwanted headers (like file paths) to printed pages. We overcame this by implementing strict CSS print resets and using -webkit-print-color-adjust to force high-fidelity output across different browsers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: Instant Performance: Achieving a near-zero load time and instant document generation.
Multi-Currency Logic: Successfully building a flexible system that handles various global currency symbols and formatting.
Professional Aesthetic: Recreating complex graphic design templates (like curved headers and geometric ribbons) using only pure CSS code.
What we learned: We discovered that complex business tools don't always need heavy frameworks like React or databases. By focusing on Vanilla JS, we learned how to maximize browser capabilities to create a tool that is not only faster but also more secure and easier to deploy on platforms like Netlify.
What's next for Propaflow - Business Made Easy!: We plan to expand Propaflow into a full-scale ecosystem:
Dashboard Analytics: Local storage-based tracking of total earnings and pending proposals.
Custom Branding: Allowing users to upload and store their own logos locally.
Contract Templates: Adding legally-binding basic contract generators to the suite.
Digital Signatures: Integrating client-side signature pads for finalized documents.
