Inspiration
We've all been there — a message pops up, a package held, pay €2.49, click here. It looks real. It feels real. And with AI, today it basically is.
We watched people around us fall for these scams constantly, not because they were careless, but because the fraudsters got too good. That frustration sparked a simple question:
Why doesn't the internet have a trust layer?
That question became ProofPocket.
What it does
ProofPocket is a browser extension and mobile app that analyses URLs and QR codes in real time, powered by AI.
But unlike anything out there, it doesn't just say danger — it tells you why, in plain language anyone understands.
ProofEasy mode adapts the entire experience for kids and elderly users:
- Simpler words
- Larger text
- Same protection
One click, one answer, one safe action.
How we built it
In 48 hours we shipped:
- A React Native mobile app
- A browser extension
- An AI-powered backend capable of real-time threat detection
We built modular from the start, kept the UI ruthlessly simple, and made every decision with one person in mind:
Someone who just wants to know if that link is safe before they click.
Challenges we ran into
Real-time accuracy under time pressure was brutal.
Making AI explanations simple enough for an 80-year-old without losing depth for a technical user is genuinely hard.
Getting the extension to behave consistently across browsers while keeping the backend fast enough to feel instant pushed every one of us to the limit.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We shipped end-to-end:
- Working app
- Working extension
- Working AI backend
All in 48 hours.
But what we're most proud of is ProofEasy mode.
Cybersecurity has always felt like it was built for tech people. We built something for everyone.
What we learned
Move fast, but never lose the user.
Under pressure it's tempting to cut corners on experience — we didn't.
We also learned more about:
- Phishing patterns
- AI-powered threat detection
In two days than we had in months.
And we discovered that the best products are born from genuine frustration with a real problem.
What's next for ProofPocket by DevUnleashed
- Live threat database updates
- Deeper AI explainability
- Partnerships with banks and telecoms
The goal is to bring ProofPocket natively into the platforms people already trust.
The mission doesn't change:
Make checking before trusting the default behaviour for every person on the internet.
