Inspiration

Many students and recent graduates want to apply for data analyst internships but struggle to understand whether their current skills and projects match the requirements in a job description. Sometimes, they list skills on their resumes without knowing how to demonstrate them through practical evidence.

I created ProofPath AI to help solve this problem. My goal was to build a tool that helps early-career applicants identify evidence gaps, understand what they need to improve, and take practical steps toward building a stronger portfolio.

What It Does

ProofPath AI is an AI-powered job readiness assistant designed for students, recent graduates, and aspiring data analysts.

Users can provide a job description, their current skills, and relevant project or work examples. The application analyzes the information and generates personalized guidance, including:

  • Job requirement analysis: Identifies important skills and requirements in a job description.
  • Evidence gap assessment: Helps users understand which requirements are supported by their examples, partially supported, or not yet supported by evidence.
  • Personalized 7-day portfolio plan: Suggests practical tasks to help users strengthen their skills and project evidence.
  • Final report: Organizes the assessment and recommendations into a useful report.

ProofPath AI focuses on helping users demonstrate their abilities rather than simply listing skills.

How I Built It

I built ProofPath AI as a web application using Python and Flask. I integrated a large language model through the Groq API to generate personalized analysis and recommendations.

The application brings together user-provided information, AI-generated insights, evidence-gap assessment, and a structured portfolio improvement plan. I also worked on validating AI responses and presenting results in a clear, user-friendly interface.

Throughout development, I tested the application locally, checked the results, and improved the workflow to make it easier for users to understand their next steps.

Challenges I Faced

As a beginner developer, building an AI-powered application was a valuable learning experience. Some of my main challenges included integrating the AI API, handling structured responses, validating generated results, and connecting the different parts of the application into one working workflow.

Another important challenge was designing the assessment so that a skill claim would not automatically be treated as proof of practical ability. I wanted ProofPath AI to distinguish between evidence provided, partial evidence, and evidence not provided.

Testing and troubleshooting also helped me understand that AI-generated results need validation and should not be treated as perfectly accurate or guaranteed outcomes.

What I Learned

Building ProofPath AI helped me gain practical experience with Python, Flask, API integration, prompt design, application testing, and user-focused problem solving.

I also learned the importance of building AI tools responsibly, validating their outputs, and communicating their limitations clearly. Most importantly, I learned that a useful AI project should address a real problem and help users take meaningful action.

What's Next

I would like to continue improving ProofPath AI by strengthening its assessment reliability, refining its recommendations, improving the user experience, and adding more opportunities for users to track their portfolio development over time.

Final Thoughts

ProofPath AI represents my effort to use artificial intelligence to make career preparation more practical and accessible. It does not promise a job or replace human judgment. Instead, it helps students and graduates turn job requirements into clearer, evidence-based next steps.
