What is Proofline?
Proofline is an AI-powered submission preflight system for researchers. It checks whether a research submission is actually ready by inspecting the manuscript, repository, required artifacts, and venue rules before submission.
Instead of asking an AI model to simply declare that a submission is ready, Proofline separates investigation from verification:
- A Strands Agents SDK agent investigates the supplied submission and uses inspection tools to examine the manuscript and repository.
- Deterministic rules perform the authoritative checks, such as manuscript page limits, repository accessibility, required files, and required supplementary artifacts.
- An Evidence Ledger records each check with its claim, supporting evidence, rule, result, timestamp, and reference.
- Proofline can connect a manuscript requirement to a repository artifact and show the resulting evidence chain.
- When something is missing or ambiguous, Proofline does not hide it. It produces a clear blocking finding or identifies where human review is required.
The problem
Research submissions often involve more than the manuscript itself. A researcher may need to satisfy page limits, include supplementary materials, keep a repository publicly accessible, provide required files, and maintain the correct artifact structure.
A submission can look complete while still failing a small but important requirement.
The final verification step is therefore repetitive, error-prone, and easy to overlook.
Who it is for
Proofline is designed for researchers, research engineers, academics, and teams preparing papers with accompanying repositories and supplementary artifacts.
How it works
- The researcher provides a manuscript PDF, repository information, and a venue rule set.
- The Strands agent investigates the supplied submission using inspection tools.
- Deterministic verification checks the actual artifacts against explicit rules.
- Every important check becomes an entry in the Evidence Ledger.
- Proofline returns a readiness state:
- READY
- BLOCKED
- HUMAN_REVIEW
- The result explains not only what happened, but the evidence behind the decision.
Why the Evidence Ledger matters
A green check is only useful when the user can understand why it exists.
Proofline therefore keeps the evidence behind each verification result instead of treating an LLM response as the final source of truth.
For example, a supplementary-file requirement can be traced through:
Requirement → Repository Artifact → Evidence → Rule → Decision
This makes the final decision inspectable and easier to trust.
Technology
Proofline uses the Strands Agents SDK for agentic investigation and tool use, with deterministic application logic retained as the authoritative verification layer. The application is built with Next.js, TypeScript, React, Tailwind CSS, and Groq's OpenAI-compatible API endpoint, and is deployed on Vercel.
