Inspiration
PronunciAI was inspired by the common challenge language learners face: mastering accurate pronunciation. Personal experiences and observing gaps in traditional language-learning apps motivated us to build a solution that provides immediate, personalized feedback.
What it does
PronunciAI is an AI-powered pronunciation coach that engages learners through interactive conversation, instantly analyzing pronunciation accuracy and offering targeted suggestions to improve fluency and confidence in speaking new languages.
How we built it
We utilized React Native and Expo to build a seamless mobile experience. PronunciAI integrates advanced AI models (Gemini and GPT) for conversation and speech analysis, leveraging Expo’s audio recording capabilities for real-time user feedback.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was efficiently handling audio encoding and processing within the mobile app environment, ensuring quick response times from AI APIs, and maintaining consistent performance across different devices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created a highly interactive, user-friendly app capable of providing real-time, personalized pronunciation feedback entirely on-device, significantly improving learners' confidence and fluency.
What we learned
We deepened our understanding of mobile app audio processing, integrating AI services within resource-constrained environments, and designing intuitive user experiences that encourage repeated engagement.
What's next for PronunciAI
Future plans include adding support for more languages, incorporating gamified elements to further boost user motivation, and continuously refining the AI’s accuracy and responsiveness based on user feedback.
