  Pronounce Pal – Voice-driven English practice app

Inspiration Many people want to improve their spoken English but feel shy or don’t have anyone to practice with. I wanted to build something that feels like talking to a friendly partner, not taking a test. What it does Pronounce Pal is an AI-powered speaking partner that helps users practice English pronunciation and grammar using voice. You speak naturally, and it listens, responds, and gently corrects you in real time. How we built it The app uses Google Gemini to understand user speech and generate helpful responses, and ElevenLabs to convert those responses into natural-sounding voice. The focus was on voice-first interaction to make learning feel more natural. Challenges we ran into The biggest challenge was making the conversation feel smooth and human, especially handling voice input and keeping responses short and supportive instead of robotic. Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a working voice-based English practice app Integrated AI understanding and realistic voice output Created a simple and friendly learning experience What we learned I learned how to design better prompts for AI conversations, work with voice APIs, and think more about user experience in AI-driven apps. What's next for Pronounce Pal Future plans include user progress tracking, multiple accents, daily speaking challenges, and mobile app support.
