Inspiration

Lots of us set goals and expectations for ourselves, but tend to forget about them due to a lack of time management. The same lack of time management leads others to lose track of their schedule. It is this common yet important problem throughout society that has led us to designing a digital reminder.

What it does

Functions as a reminder app: it sets a schedule and reminds users of their schedule with an alarm. We planned to add an extra "diabolical" feature where minigames were to be used to deactivate the reminder. This was not included in the final hack.

How we built it

The UI (and prototype only) was made over Figma. We tried to export these to a scene-based programming language, but all attempts were made in vain.

Challenges we ran into

The inability to transfer a UI design to a programming language that any of the members already knows (C++ or Python), made worse by the inability of any of the group's members to program a functional user interface from scratch.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully designing a working prototypical UI through Figma (with lots of shortcomings). The logo and user interface was the idea of one group member in particular—we attribute most of our work to him specifically.

What we learned

  1. In order to make a successfully working Android app capable of running in the background, lots of work is put into the programming (and UI/UX designing in particular).
  2. It takes lots of thought, time, and effort to develop something meaningful as a programmer.
  3. For me, the writer of this Devpost specifically: not to register myself into any competition until I am aware of the requirements.

What's next for Promptly: Digital Reminder

Adding full functionality to the application, including: -saved settings -minigames -self-updating schedules -alarms that work according to mobile device standards -and many more.
