Inspiration
We realized that many people with special needs in remote places had problems accessing helping measures for their usual lives. One of the examples we had in mind were blind people. We knew that a lots of blind people had access to mira dogs, but what of those who are allergic to dogs, or live in remote areas ? This was the beginning point of our quest to help blind people with all the possible ideas we could make in 24h !
What it does
Our project, the "Super-Cane", is an intelligent daily companion of blind people, that acts mostly like a mira dog, but with features for detecting a futuristic path for blind people that is built in most cities on the 2050th year.
How we built it
We build it from scratch with sensors, boxes, glue, and a lot of love !
Challenges we ran into
We ran into lots of challenges and had to change our idea many times to build this robot. The most notable example were our engines failing us 3 times in a row, even after we repaired them 3 times. This obliged us to change our ideas many times, until we found the middle-ground, which was our final product !
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our theme consisting of helping people with special needs to live easier and better lives. The fact we also build our robot from scratch, and with lots of embedded functionalities also fills us with joy.
What we learned
We learned a lot of things during these day and half, be it about ourselves, but also about how to deal with robots and manual work of course. Trying various things with the sensors was also very fun and instructive !
What's next for Projet chien
There are a lot of changes we want to make to our project if we have the opportunity to upgrade it. We would most importantly like to make it more physically robust, and able to deal with more situations if possible.
