Inspiration

Academic projects help students develop practical skills, but managing teams, deadlines, milestones, and faculty feedback can be challenging. We created ProjectHub to make project-based learning more organized, collaborative, and transparent.

What it does

ProjectHub is an education platform that helps students create and manage projects, form teams, track milestones, submit weekly progress reports, and receive faculty feedback. It supports structured project workflows that encourage accountability and collaboration.

Our vision is to enhance this experience with AI-powered learning recommendations, progress analysis, and early identification of project challenges, helping students learn more effectively.

How we built it

We built the frontend using React, Vite, React Router, Axios, and Lucide React. The backend uses Node.js and Express.js to provide REST APIs, while PostgreSQL stores application data. JWT authentication, bcrypt password hashing, and role-based access support secure student, faculty, and administrator workflows. Vercel provides deployment configuration.

Challenges we ran into

Designing separate workflows for students, faculty, and administrators was challenging. We also worked on connecting frontend components with backend APIs, structuring relational data, managing project milestones, and organizing weekly submissions and faculty reviews.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a centralized platform that brings project management, team collaboration, milestone tracking, progress reporting, and faculty mentorship together. We are proud of creating a structured workflow that can help students manage academic projects more effectively.

What we learned

We strengthened our skills in frontend development, backend API design, database management, authentication, role-based authorization, version control, and deployment. We also learned how thoughtful technology design can support collaboration and accountability in education.

What's next for ProjectHub – AI-Enhanced Student Project Learning Platform

We aim to introduce AI-powered progress-report summaries, personalized learning-resource recommendations, milestone suggestions, and early warnings for project delays. These features could help students identify knowledge gaps, overcome challenges, and receive more personalized guidance throughout their academic projects.
