We’ve all been there—50 open tabs, a million "entry-level" requirements, and zero idea where to actually start. It’s overwhelming. We built this because we were tired of the "doom-scrolling" anxiety. We wanted to turn that fragmented mess of job descriptions into something actually useful: a personalized career GPS. Instead of guessing which skills matter, our platform builds a clear, actionable roadmap from student to professional. We’re basically trying to take the "what now?" out of graduation and replace it with a solid plan.
Vector transforms fragmented career info into personalized, actionable roadmaps for fresh grads. By mapping live job data against your specific skills, we generate interactive "career GPS" mindmaps and compatibility scores. We take the guesswork out of job hunting, helping you track applications and master the exact skills employers want.
We built Vector using Next.js and Tailwind CSS for a responsive, light-mode frontend, integrated with React Flow for dynamic mindmaps. The FastAPI backend processes job data and skill graphs, connected via REST APIs. We used Dagre for automated layouting, ensuring raw career data transforms into structured, actionable roadmaps.
Our biggest hurdle was the steep learning curve as a first-time team. We struggled with the complex layout logic of React Flow, initially hitting "ghost nodes" and broken logic paths. Aligning fragmented backend data into a clean, hierarchical roadmap was a constant battle of trial and error and debugging.
To be frank, we have thrown ourselves into the realms of the unknown, although we have crashed out, argued, and faced all sorts of adversities, but all of us never gave up.
Through this project, we have exposed ourselves to the frontend/backend requirements/operations and understand the fundamentals of the API callings on the frontend, for the website to function with complexity. We have thrown ourself into the realm of the unknown
Post-hackathon, we’ll scale Vector by integrating real-time job scraping and AI-driven skill gap analysis. Our plan includes expanding the knowledge graph to non-tech industries and launching a "Learning Hub" with curated resources. We’ll refine the UI based on user testing to ensure seamless, end-to-end career navigation.
