Inspiration
We were inspired by Free the Girls' model to provide more long-term resolutions for problems rather than immediate ones.
What it does
We connect those affected directly with resources to better their financial situations and lessen the wealth gap.
How we built it
We developed a React Web App and worked together to research solutions for the problem and how we can utilize the online aspect of a website to make our solution stand out.
Challenges we ran into
This was the first time most of our team used React, so it was challenging to adapt to a new language and setup. We also got used to Github and understood how to code as a team. Most of our time was spent setting up the project to work with multiple people rather than the actual coding. However, we did manage to debug a lot of our code and get it to work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have a working site with a live, interactive graph! We also really liked how the UI/UX turned out, it was truly amazing to go from nothing and get this output at the end.
What we learned
We learned now that we should take more time before hackathons to get adjusted to the coding environment again. We had a little experience in the past using Github, but it's a learning curve each time to get back used to it. It would also be good for us to come in with a better plan of action on how to tackle a project, but overall we still accomplished a lot.
What's next for Project Uplift
We hope to continue on finding new solutions to incorporate into our website and reach out to more people about these resources. It would also be nice to have a social aspect of the site, since it relies heavily on a community.
